MINI BIO

Roberto Kirchheim is a geologist graduated from UFRGS (1987-1992) with postgraduate studies at Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen (1995) and at the Hydraulic Research Institute of UFRGS (1996-1998). He holds a PhD in Hydrogeology from UNESP-SP (2017-2021). He began his career as a hydrogeologist in emergency and humanitarian projects in Mozambique (1993-1994) and was a career employee at the Organization of American States in Uruguay and the United States (2000-2006), where he served as operational manager of the Guarani Aquifer System Project. He has worked as a consultant (for companies, governments, and international organizations) in water resources and hydrogeology in various projects in Brazil and across the Americas. Since 2010, he has been a hydrogeology researcher at the Geological Survey of Brazil (SGB), focusing on isotopic applications and fostering international cooperation. He is currently conducting postdoctoral research as part of the project entitled “Technical-Scientific Studies for Geological CO2 Storage in Deep Saline Aquifers of the Paraná Basin,” hosted by the Center for Applied Geosciences (CGA-SGB) in partnership with Petrobras.
