Full professor at the Institute of Energy and Environment of the University of São Paulo (IEE-USP), coordinator of the Technical Laboratory for Geological Storage of CO2 and H2 and CNPQ Researcher Level 1A. He has been a member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and the Lisbon Academy of Sciences since 2002. He was Director of the Institute of Geosciences of USP from 2008 to 2011 and of IEE-USP from 2015 to 2019. He received the ANP Award for Technological Innovation as Academic Personality of the Year 2023 in the oil, gas and biofuels sector.
