Claudia Shirozaki is the Sustainability Manager at FS, where she leads strategic initiatives including certifications, climate strategy, and supply chain sustainability. With 19 years of experience, she holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from UFJF and a master’s in Energy Engineering focused on Thermal Power Generation from the Federal University of Itajubá. With extensive experience as a climate governance consultant, Claudia has played a pivotal role in sectors such as thermal power plants, steelmaking, mining, and biofuels in Brazil, including collaborative projects with UNDP Brazil (United Nations Development Programme) and participating on strategical discussions of aviation and maritime decarbonization in IMO (International Maritime Organization).
Throughout her career, she has led projects and teams focused on enhancing energy efficiency, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, energy planning, commercial and institutional strategies, process optimization in diverse sectors, carbon accounting, GHG inventories, impacting companies from retail to large industries. Claudia’s expertise spans the use of various fuels, including biomass, biofuels and waste, and she is currently involved in Brazil’s pioneering carbon capture and storage project linked to a biogenic carbon process, which has the potential to drive FS’s ethanol carbon footprint to negative levels.
