Mechanical Engineer, with a specialization in Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency from USP-SP, and more than 30 years of experience in the sugarcane industry. He has been responsible for the engineering and project management of more than 25 greenfield facilities in Brazil and abroad.
Among the many projects in his professional portfolio are the sugar factories at the Ivinhema and Angélica mills – Adecoagro, both featuring continuous sugar boiling systems; Usina Conquista do Pontal, with batch A boiling and continuous B boiling; Usina Eldorado, with a batch sugar factory; all units of the Odebrecht Agroindustrial group; Usina Rio Dourado – SJC Bioenergia; the Itumbiara and Ituiutaba mills, each with two sugar factories; the expansion of Usina Tropical for the production of white crystal sugar – BP; Cerradinho Bio – Grupo Cerradinho; as well as numerous expansions of existing mills involving process improvements, production increases, and plant modernization.
His experience also includes more than 35 biomass-fired thermoelectric power plants. Key projects include the Bonfim Mill – Raízen, with more than 100 MW of installed capacity; the installation of Brazil’s first axial turbine with an evaporative condenser, with an individual capacity of 50 MW, at the Cocal – Narandiba mill; three thermoelectric plants in Mexico totaling more than 150 MW; and the full concept development, engineering, and project management of the Cerradinho Bio thermoelectric power plant, currently the largest biomass-fired power plant in Brazil, with 160 MW of installed capacity.
Within the renewable energy sector, he is also actively involved in decarbonization initiatives, with significant participation in projects focused on replacing fossil fuels with biomass and biogas. Across his renewable energy portfolio, he has been technically responsible for more than 2,200 MW of installed capacity.
